Upon arrival in Romania we head for Brasov, one of Romania’s old Saxon cities, and the biggeste city in Transsylvania. We will be staying at a great little hotel in the Old Town. On the way to Brasov we make a stop at Castle Peles, which is one of Romania’s absolute highlights. We arrive in Brasov late afternoon. After checking in at the hotel and a bit of rest, your guide will take you out for dinner in the Old Town.
Starts off with a tour of Brasov including a visit to the Black Church and the first Romanian school. After lunch we will take a trip up Mount Tampa to view Brasov from the top. An opportunity is to hike both up and down the mountain, but for those not inclined there is a cable car instead. Rest of the day in the city at your disposal.
We will meet up at the hotel after lunch around 12:30 and head towards Castle Bran, also known as Count Dracula’s castle. After a tour of the castle it’s possible to visit the Open Air Museum, which is adjacent to the castle. There are houses from different parts of Romania and you may want to spend a bit of your money at the local souvenir traders. After our visit to Castle Bran we proceed to Castle Rasnov, which is an old fortress dating back to the early 12oos. We return to Brasov late afternoon.
We depart Brasov after breakfast and drive towards Sighisoara, birthplace of Count Dracula. On the way up there we make a stop to take in the spectacle of the Rupea fortress. Then on to Viscri and a visit to the old fortified church. On the way will we stop for lunch in Viscri. Around 3 Pm will we arrive in Sighisoara. We will be staying in the Old Town which is inside the castle walls. Rest of the day at your disposal.
We will begin the day with a tour of Sighisoara, visiting the Church on the Mountain, the German Cemetery and more. After lunch we drive to Biertan to visit the most famous fortified church in Romania and go for a stroll around the village. On the way back you will have the opportunity to visit the fortified church in Copsa Mare.
Departing Sighisoara to go to Sibiu which is one of the finest preserved cities in Romania, thanks to the Mayor Johannes. On the way to Sibiu we make a stop in Medias to see the old part of the city and enjoy a cup of coffee before we drive on. In Sibiu, we will be staying in the Old Town. The rest of the day is at your disposal.
Spending the day in Sibiu visits include the city cathedral, Turnul Sfatului and other sights. The rest of the day is at your disposal with ample opportunity to enjoy this amazing city.
Departing Sibiu and Transylvania after breakfast to drive to Bucharest. Depending on the season we will take the amazing Transfagarasan Road if it is open. The trip takes about 8-9 hours with stops along the way. If this road is closed, we go directly to Bucharest travelling 4 hours stopping only once. We arrive in Bucharest around 13.00, which allows for a short tour of Bucharest in the afternoon. In the evening we take you to a wine tasting. There will be opportunities to shop for wines to take home.
Depending on time of departure it is possible to spend the morning sleeping in, going for a walk in the Old Town, or acquiring the last souvenirs before flying back to Denmark. We hope you have had a fantastic stay in Romania.
